Wow!

Saturday, November 6th we (the Episcopalians of UT) consecrated our 11th Bishop. Wow the fanfare and celebration was something not to be missed. The overall feeling of warmth and inclusion was amazing. We were in the presence of visiting dignitaries, national bishops, bishops from our sister dioceses of Myanmar and Mexico, as well as our presiding bishop Rt Rev. Katherine Jefferts-Schori. Our new Bishop Scott Byron Hayashi blessed and sanctified our communion this day as all in attendance were able to Come to the Table with him. All I can say it was amazing, our readings of the old and new testament were read in english, spanish, and the native utah language of Ute. The offerings were collected and given by members of the Dinka tribe who have come to call Utah home and they did this in their native language and dance. The ballroom at the Grand America Hotel was taken over as members of the Ute and Shoshone Tribe blessed and smudged the room with aromas of sage and other native spices. Chief Clifford Duncan blessed the four directions as well as the new bishop. All I can say that it was a very spiritual event. And to all my stitching friends out there the fabrics, embroidery, and beading was phenomenal, one of the bishops was even wearing a CQ'd cope.
